Considering A Sexy Costume?
Sexy costumes are probably the biggest growing costume category in the last couple of years.
In the last five to six years the industry has grown from just a couple of manufacturers, that offered costumes more appropriate for the bedroom than a party, to many companies that have created costume styles that range from the modest to the risqué.
When the lingerie companies started producing sexy costumes they understood that part of the reason that women wanted the costumes was to look attractive as well as be a character. This was not the primary goal of the traditional costume companies. Previously, witches were scary, clowns were funny and pirates were, well … "arrrgh". Think a sexy costume is not for you? Consider some of the following points. Sexy costumes probably offer the broadest array of costume sizes, which makes it is easier to find a costume that fits properly. Years ago half the women's costumes were offered in only a "one size fits most". Even today, most women's costumes are only offered in two or three sizes. Costumes available in two sizes are usually, dress size 2-8 and 8-14. This means that the costumes only fit a person well if that person is a size 7-8 or 12-14. If you are a size 2 or 9 the costume may not really have the fit that looks like the picture on the package. Most sexy costumes come in many sizes. For the slimmest women, the most popular styles come in size 0 to 2. Finally a costume that does not hang on your body like a smock. Additional sizes include ranges like, 2-4, 5-7, 8-10, 11-12 so everybody can find a costume that fits better than any Halloween costume has in the past. For women who wear a larger size, like many real women do, a lot of the costumes are available in sizes 13-14 and plus sizes like 16-18 and even 20-22. If the costume fits better, it looks more attractive. Another important point is that many of the sexy costumes available today are not as short or revealing as the early styles were. In fact, some sexy costumes are just better fitting and slightly shorter versions of similar costumes that were not sold as "sexy" in the past. Some of the sexy nurse costumes are similar to the traditional nurse costumes, just raised a little higher above the knee with a pair of stockings thrown in. |

If your still not sure, remember that a sexy costume should not show as much, or more than your bathing suit. You can always add to a sexy costume by wearing panty hose, tights, shorts, a body stocking, or a cape. If you feel uncomfortable, don't feel you have to wear the costume out to a party. Do what you feel comfortable with. Like regular clothes and costumes, accessories can make a huge difference and there are accessories available made just for a sexy costume. Many sexy costumes require a petticoat for that flared out look. A few sexy costumes come with an attached petticoat but most do not include it. Petticoats come in several styles and colors. The more detailed the more expensive but most petticoats costs less than twenty dollars. If you purchase a petticoat for one costume, you may be able to use the same petticoat with another costume. If you are looking at an especially short costume you may want to purchase a petticoat that is designed to work with that shorter costume. Probably the most common accessories for a sexy costume are stockings and pantyhose. While you might not normally wear pantyhose that have a large loop netting, they may be perfect for a sexy costume. There is a large array of colors available so you can wear red ones with a fire woman costume or yellow hose with a sexy bumble bee costume. Sexy thigh high stockings or knee high stockings are very popular and some of them are very detailed with satin bows at the top or rhinestones. Many sexy costumes include garters and may even include the stockings but if not, a nice pair of white, black or fence net thigh high stockings will perfectly top off the costume. For a sexy schoolgirl costume, a pair of white knee-highs completes the look. If the sexy costume you select is short, you can always add a pair of rumba panties or French maid briefs in white and black, white or black. Don't forget, there are items like themed purses, costume wigs, jewelry and accessories like nurse syringes and thermometer props. So this year consider showing up at the party as a lion tamer, sexy pirate or nurse good body. After all, Halloween is the one time of the year where it is OK to come as a character that is totally different than the real you. |
